15 Minute Q & A
Speaker: Eva Stephens RN – Eva is a registered nurse that has spent the first 15 years of her career in Emergency and ICU, and the last 15 years working in the Lipid clinic located at the St. Boniface Hospital Cardiac Sciences program. The Lipid Clinic specializes in educating and helping people with cholesterol lowering treatments including diet, lifestyle and medications.
She has taken multiple courses related to cardiovascular risk and lipid management and has done presentations for the public and the Canadian Cardiovascular Nurses Association on topics related to this field.
Suggested that attendees bring their cholesterol profile.

Speaker: Dr. Olga Toleva MD CCFP FRCPC – Dr. Toleva graduated Medicine in Sofia, Bulgaria.
She completed Family Medicine residency at UBC, Vancouver and subsequently practiced as a Family physician for a year. After a year of practice as a GP she entered UBC to complete 4 years of Internal Medicine residency. She then moved to Edmonton where she did her Adult Cardiology Fellowship and Interventional cardiology training. Her training had a specific focus on coronary interventions and Trans-catheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI)- this is a procedure for replacing the aortic valve without open heart surgery. During her last 4 years of training she completed Masters in Public Health at the The Harvard School of Public Health.
She was hired on staff at the UofM in September 2014 and as an interventional cardiologist at St. Boniface Hospital. Her clinical focus is on TAVI which includes large area of research. She has establishing the Manitoba TAVI database and is focused on outcomes research, frailty and quality of life assessments in the elderly who are the predominant population requiring TAVI. Most of her past research has been focused on elderly patients and TAVI.
She is a member of the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance – Advocacy group and has been very active in the community by rising awareness for women’s heart health. She has collaborated with the heart and stroke foundation and St. Boniface Hospital foundation to give talks in the community as well as Radio and TV interviews to raise awareness about women and heart disease.

Mar 16 : Yoga for Balance 2
This workshop is for yoga practitioners who wish to explore and deepen their understanding of the mechanics of balancing postures and how they can be incorporated into their yoga practice and everyday life. Safe alignment will be emphasized and instruction of prop usage will be given to facilitate alignment. Previous yoga experience is required.
