Reh-Fit Centre Board of Directors

The Reh-Fit Centre is governed by a Board of Directors. This volunteer group is responsible for the overall direction of the Reh-Fit, advancing the mission of the organization, its fiscal affairs, policies governing the Centre, and representing the Centre to the public.

KEN LEE, CHAIR

Lee, KenKen is a Chartered Accountant (1975) and is a founding partner with the firm of Stefanson, Lee, Romaniuk. He is also a shareholder in various businesses in Manitoba. Ken is active in “Old Timers Hockey”, runs, golfs, and he has completed eight marathons. He is very involved in the community and is currently the Chief Financial Officer of the PC Party of Manitoba, and a Director of the Manitoba Jockey Club. He has held other volunteer positions with Pine Ridge Golf Club (President); Pan Am Games (Executive Committee); Balmoral Hall School (Board of Directors); Manitoba Tourism Committee (Director); and Western Canada Games (VP Operations).

Ken has been an active member of the Reh-Fit Centre since 1994 and is currently Chair of the Board of Directors and past Treasurer.

DAVID HORNE,  PAST CHAIR

Horne, David

David is an alumnus of the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration degrees. He has over 30 years of extensive experience in the financial services industry. Most of his time at Investors Group Head Office in Winnipeg was in leadership and executive coaching roles in various positions including: Vice-President of Marketing, Regional Vice-President of Sales and Vice-President of Insurance.

He has been active in chairing a number of boards and committees for various charitable and non-profit organizations. Previous experience includes: Chair of Community Leaders Division of United Way of Winnipeg, Chair of the board of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Manitoba and member of the national board of directors of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.

He is currently Past Chair of the Reh-Fit Centre board, member of the Executive Committee of the Reh-Fit Centre, member of Reh-Fit Centre Governance Committee, Chair of the Reh-Fit Centre Nominating Committee, as well as serving on the board of the Reh-Fit Foundation. In addition he currently serves on the investment committees of three other national charitable organizations.

ALBERT KRAHN, VICE CHAIR

Krahn, AlbertAlbert holds the position of President of The Quark Group – a regional chain of shoe stores that he has co-owned since 1984. In the past, Albert has been Board Chairman, as well as Board Member, at Linden Christian School. He has also had long-term involvement in the leadership of various non-profit charities and Community Club Sports Teams.

Albert was elected to the Board in 2009 and is currently serving as Vice-President of the Board of Directors. He is a member of the Executive and a past member of the Finance Committee. He is married with two children and has been a member of the Reh-Fit since 1996.

DAVID THOMPSON, TREASURER

Thompson, DavidDavid is a Chartered Accountant, a CMA (Certified Management Accountant), and a Certified Management Consultant. He worked for Woods Gordon Consulting (now Ernst & Young) for many years in the Winnipeg office and as a partner in the Regina office. He returned to Winnipeg as CEO of Aeroguard Security. His business experience over 35 years is extensive.

David and his wife Laurie have both been members of the Reh-Fit Centre for a number of years. He is committed to fitness and attends the Centre three to four times each week for regular workouts and participating in various programs.

David was elected to the Board of Directors in June 2010 and is a member of the Centre’s Finance Committee.

GORDON GREAVES, SECRETARY

Greaves, GordonGordon is a Chartered Accountant. Currently Gordon is the part-time Technology Coordinator for the Manitoba Division of the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters. He is the past Managing Director, Advanced Manufacturing Initiative and the past Managing Director of the Manitoba Manufacturing Council. He is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation and serves on their Board of Directors. He retired in 2006 as the Chief Executive Officer of Pritchard Group, a position he held since January, 2000. He joined Pritchard in 1986 as Chief Financial Officer. His career prior to joining Pritchard included public accounting for 10 years, notably as a Supervisor with Price Waterhouse; Manager of Finance & Administration for the Credit Union Central of Manitoba; Manager of Finance for Bearing Supply and as CFO for Arnold Bros. Transport Ltd.

Gordon has been a member of the Reh-Fit Centre since 2007 and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2008. He also serves as Chair of the Finance Committee. He and Lynda have six children and four grandchildren.

KAVITA BAJAJ, DIRECTOR

Kavita is a senior manager of the U.S. Tax Department for KPMG and previously worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She is currently taking her Masters in U.S. tax by correspondence. Kavita is concerned about the obesity problem in children and youth and is committed to preventative, proactive solutions to healthy living and will be a driving force behind this issue when it comes to innovative programming at the Centre. While attending university, Kavita was a board member of Canadians Helping Kids in Vietnam.

Kavita has been a member of the Reh-Fit Centre for two years and loves our facility. She was elected to the Board in 2008 and is a member of the Centre’s Finance Committee.

ROSSANA BUONPENSIERE, DIRECTOR

Rossana is a Partner in the Consulting Services Practice of MNP LLP in the Winnipeg office. She has more than 10 years of experience in leadership and management of initiatives to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness for clients in the public and private sectors, and has led project teams in a variety of areas including board governance training, organizational development and redesign, change management, human resources management, and strategy and planning. She holds Bachelor of Law and Bachelor of Arts degrees, and is qualified to practice law in Manitoba. She has been on various boards including the Centro Caboto Centre, Manitoba Hydro, and Sport Manitoba.

Rossana has been a member of the Reh-Fit Centre for February 2010 and strongly believes in the services and programs offered by the Reh-Fit Centre.

STU CHARLES, DIRECTOR

Charles, StuStu is currently employed at the Workers Compensation Board as Chief Information Officer, While his expertise has been mainly focused on enabling technology solutions for business, Stu also has experience in business reengineering, human resources and strategic planning. Stu lives for hockey in the winter and softball in the summer. His favourite Reh-Fit activities are reformer pilates, zumba, and aerobics. He especially enjoys learning and giving back to the community.

Stu has been a member of the Reh-Fit Centre since 2006 and elected to the Board of Directors in 2008. He is currently a member of the Nominating Committee and the Governance Committee.

JIM HALE, DIRECTOR

Hale, JimJim is an Information Technology Executive who has held senior Technology leadership positions with Centra Gas, SAAN Stores, and TruServ Canada Cooperative. He is currently employed as a senior manager for a Company that markets, sells, and installs SAP Business One in Canada.

Jim has been a member of the Reh-Fit since 2003 and a member of the Board since 2005. He has served on the Finance and Audit Committees. He is committed to the idea of exercise and healthy living. The Reh-Fit staff has helped him to achieve his weight and fitness goals.

JUDY HOLDEN, DIRECTOR

Holden, JudyJudy is an experienced fundraiser, having served as the Assistant Director of Development at the University of Manitoba, as well as other boards. In addition, she has marketing and finance experience through ownership of a small Winnipeg business.

Judy Holden joined the Reh-Fit Centre when it first opened in 1975 and returned again in 2002. She has been on the Board of Directors since 2003. She has served on the Executive Committee and is currently a member of the Nominating Committee. She was also the Marketing Chair of the Capital Campaign and has volunteered for many years for the Healthy Living Awards.

JO MAGNIFICO, DIRECTOR

Magnifico, JoJo Magnifico owns and operates Magnifico Communications, a Winnipeg-based marketing, media and management business. Jo is a communications professional specializing in public affairs, event planning, media relations, issues management, internal/external communications and executive speeches. Prior to starting her own venture, Jo worked on senior management teams in the financial services industry (Manitoba and Ontario) and the not-for-profit sector for several years. She earned a Bachelor or Arts and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) degree at the University of Manitoba.

Jo served on the Board of Directors of the National ballet School in Toronto for five years and is the Coordinator of The Coffey Fund Council.

Jo has been a member of the Reh-Fit for nine years. She was elected to the Board of Directors in 2005 and is a member of the Governance Committee.

DR. BRUCE ROE, DIRECTOR APPOINTED BY THE ST. BONIFACE HOSPITAL

Roe, BruceDr. Bruce Roe is the Executive Director, Clinical Programs and Chief Medical Officer at St. Boniface Hospital. He is also a practicing endocrinologist, and has been deeply involved in the introduction of the Electronic Patient Record at St. Boniface Hospital. Since St. Boniface Hospital committed making lean transformation to the core of its strategic plan two years ago, Dr. Roe has contributed as Executive Champion for the Transformation Program.

Dr. Bruce Roe was appointed to the Board as a representative of the St. Boniface Hospital in June 2005.

JOANNE SIMES, DIRECTOR

Joanne is a Certified Management Accountant working in the financial services industry, primarily in business lending and credit and operational risk management. She has held the position of Vice President Risk Management with Cambrian Credit Union since 2007. She has served on various community and charity boards, most recently on the board of the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra and the Manitoba Chapter of the Risk Management Association.

Joanne has been a member of the Reh-Fit Centre since 2007. She enjoys cycling, golfing, and running.
