Reh-Fit is thrilled to welcome Emily and Hannah, dedicated nursing students from the University of Manitoba to the Centre this winter.
For Emily, nursing became of interest after watching her mom return to nursing school later in life. “When I was younger, I watched my mom go back into nursing school, and it made me consider nursing as a potential career,” Emily shared.
Hannah's path to nursing was shaped by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. “I finished high school in the middle of COVID and saw the need for nurses. I’ve always loved biology and how the body works, so I knew I wanted to do something in healthcare. COVID really confirmed that, and I have a desire to give back to the community and help people in whatever way I can,” says Hannah.
With the guidance of our Reh-Fit nurses, Emily and Hannah will be organizing and leading an upcoming Blood Pressure Clinic for Reh-Fit members during Smart for Your Heart month, a month dedicated to heart health prevention and education.
This drop-in clinic is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable insights into managing your blood pressure, all while benefiting from personalized and expert advice in a supportive environment.
The clinic will take place on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, during two convenient time slots: 9:00–11:00 AM and 1:00–3:00 PM in Seminar Room B next to the member lounge and Café.
During your visit, you’ll receive a blood pressure check, learn how exercise and lifestyle choices impact your blood pressure, and take home educational materials, including a BP log.
Whether you’re looking to better understand your blood pressure, support a loved one, or want to take proactive steps toward heart health, the Reh-Fit Centre is here to provide you with resources. No registration required—simply drop in.
