In the early 1970s, St. Boniface Hospital’s 25-square-foot lab with a treadmill sparked a revolution in heart health. Healthcare professionals’ discovery – that exercise, not bed rest, was key to recovery – marked the beginning of the Reh-Fit Centre's commitment to heart health.

We continue to lead the way in heart health, offering programs and resources that help our community take proactive steps toward better cardiovascular health.

As part of our Annual Smart for Your Heart Month celebrations in February, we’re hosting free education events focused on heart health, designed to inform, engage, and support you in making heart-healthy choices. Bringing together industry experts, from pharmacists to cardiology residents, we’re offering something for everyone.

One of the highlights of this month is the Heart Valve Awareness Day: Stethoscope Check Event. We are thrilled to be the first in Manitoba to offer this unique event, designed by Heart Valve Voice Canada. It’s an opportunity to learn about the importance of early detection for heart valve disease, particularly for those 60 and older.
