At Reh-Fit, we see and hear impactful stories of change through physical activity every day. The research shows it: exercise is medicine. And it’s medicine we need right now.

Did you know that 40 years ago, exercise was considered unsafe for many with chronic conditions? Today, we know physical activity is critical to individual and collective well-being.

Further, we know being physically active is key to building resilience against getting sick and managing chronic conditions.

Mark’s Story

Like many of you, Mark came to Reh-Fit looking for a safe place to exercise and connect in the community.

Before coming to Reh-Fit, Mark was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD is a type of obstructive lung disease characterized by long-term breathing problems and poor airflow. It is a progressive disease, meaning it typically worsens over time.

After committing to a lifestyle change, including regular exercise at the Reh-Fit, Mark received some encouraging news from his respirologist that his lung condition no longer met the criteria for a COPD diagnosis.

“When I was diagnosed with COPD, my expected lung function was 67%. When I went back after doing the 90-Day Challenge and Team Power class, I lost 42 pounds and I was in better shape. My expected lung function was 95%.”

But Mark experienced countless other benefits outside of his improved diagnosis.

“I look forward to coming here. I am so much happier, less stressed. My experience at Reh-Fit has definitely been life-changing,” says Mark.
