Improving your quality of life can be quite simple. Small improvements over time, made consistently, can be the key to creating lasting positive change.

What are you actively doing to improve your mind and body today? Get started right now, with these 5 simple and easy steps below. Add them into your routine and start experiencing the benefits today!

8 Hours of sleep: Every. Single. Night.

Decide what time you want to wake up, set an alarm for that time. The trick: when the alarm goes off in the morning, respect the alarm, and respect your time. Remember you set the alarm for a reason. Get up and start your day!

Glasses (250mL) of water per day. Every. Single. Day.

What's the easiest way to start getting more H20? Have a water bottle filled and beside your bed before you go to sleep. Then the first thing you do when you wake is drink one cup (250mL) of water. Aim for 6-8 of these cups of water, totaling 1.5-2.0 liters per day.

Note: BEFORE YOUR COFFEE, trust me I love coffee too, but the coffee can wait 20 minutes.

Plus: You’ve now already started to work on one goal for the day. AMAZING!

Sudoku, crosswords, word search, reading a book/magazine. Each. Day.

Mental fitness is important too! Do at least one activity that challenges your thinking, memory. etc. Ideally make this activity screen free. Challenging your brain will help your brain work faster and more efficiently.

Do you sit at work? If you said yes, read below:

Stand up, Every, Single, Hour. EVERY HOUR!

Standing up and stretching every hour is incredibly beneficial to both your work productivity, and your body health. Yes, you actually work more efficiently when you allow your body to relax. It helps your neck, spine, and every other joint by taking a 90 second break every hour, minimum.

Walk. That’s it. Just walk. EVERY DAY!

Easy right? Incorporate more walking into your day. Try taking a walking meeting at work. Walk on your break. Pick a destination be it a park, your favourite local coffee shop, or any landmark you like. Walk to it, enjoy it, and then walk back. My favourite piece of advice to walking more: get a dog, we love dogs, they’re great walking mates.
