Dr. Fowles will be talking about ‘Why Exercise is Medicine’ – the evidence for why moving more is so important to preventing and treating numerous conditions. Dr. Fowles will identify the physical and mental health benefits of physical activity and explain the differences and effects of reducing sedentary behaviour, increasing regular physical activity, and exercising to improving your health. This session will provide you with some practical messages to help you make your best move for your health.

Dr. Jonathon Fowles, PhD, FCSEP, CSEP-CEP, CSCS is a researcher, practitioner and advocate, whose work has focused on implementation of physical activity guidelines into practice. He has spearheaded initiatives with many national and regional organizations to increase physical activity counseling by health care providers and to improve the standards and use of exercise professionals to assist Canadians to be active.
