Summer has arrived and with the latest government regulations, we’re embracing it! We’ve taken our workouts outside and are thrilled to have you back (to our west parking lot that is) all the while staying as safe as possible.
We want you to get the most out of your workout and enjoy it! Exercising outside can be so much fun when you're prepared for it. Be sure to arrive changed for your workout and keep these top tips in mind while getting ready to go:
Bring lots of water! Have your large water bottle filled and with you. Make sure you're well hydrated before, during, and after your workout. Exercising in the heat means we sweat more, which means we're also more prone to becoming dehydrated. Stay safe, be proactive and beat the heat with lots of water!
• Sweat-proof Sunscreen
Along with the heat comes the sun. Being safe also means keeping your skin safe from those harmful UV rays. It's important to bring sunscreen (we recommend waterproof 30 SPF or more) and reapply throughout the day. No burns here!
• Hat & light clothing
It's going to be hot and you're going to sweat. Wearing a hat and light clothing will make it cooler for you. Staying cool is key when working out hard - especially in our Winnipeg sun.
Speaking of sun, keep it out of your eyes! Less squinting and more lifting! Sunglasses are easy ones to forget but make a world of difference when you're not blinded by the light. Remember: pack your sunnies.
Yes, we have music playing outside - put there's nothing like your own personal playlist. There's nothing quite like when your favourite song comes on and all of a sudden you feel unstoppable. We just want you to get the most out of your workout, even if that means blasting 'Eye of the Tiger' on repeat. Just remember to bring your headphones.
